Sour Life

Sour Life shows a heavily pregnant woman feeding 12 sourdough starters with flour and water at varying intervals. Each jars of sourdough is prepared in advance of the performance and vary unpredictably in size, texture, smell, and quality. The outcome is shaped by both chance and by the skills of the sourdough mother. The atmosphere of the performance changes during the performance and refers to the different facets to motherhood and how the distinct parts of the role are performed, valued, and monitored by society.
