The exhibition Space for Care deals with the continual work of providing care for others. The three large jars are shaped like deformed containers and are created through a long, repetitive process using a layer-by-layer method: a work that refers to the time-consuming work of providing care for others. They are organic and hollow in shape and appear at the same time both fragile and robust. The pieces are inspired by the “Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction” by Ursula Le Guin that addressed the overlooked potential of the container.
The photographs are double exposures and consisting of landscapes with self-portraits taken during labour. In this fusion of human and nature, the uncontrollable and brutal nature of childbirth is emphasized.
